Job cuts should be the last resort

University management is introducing major and widespread changes to work at UniSQ, creating a lot of uncertainty and worry. But by sticking together and supporting each other, we can navigate these challenges, protect our rights, and make UniSQ stronger.

YOUR RIGHT TO REPRESENTATION

Remember, you’re entitled to choose the NTEU as your representative during these processes, as stated in Clauses 49.1.2 and 49.1.3 of the Enterprise Agreement. Use the form below to nominate your union, NTEU, as your representative.

STAFF GIVEN UNACCEPTABLY SHORT NOTICE OF CHANGE MEETINGS

We’ve been informed that some of you are being called to individual and group change proposal meetings on very short notice—sometimes with just a few hours’ notice. This makes it really hard for you to exercise your right to have the NTEU represent you. Remember, you’re entitled to choose the NTEU as your representative during these processes, as stated in Clauses 49.1.2 and 49.1.3 of the Enterprise Agreement.

Our advice is to decline meeting invitations if you don’t have enough time to secure NTEU representation. Let them know you need more time to arrange for your representative, as is your right under the Enterprise Agreement.

If you’ve been called to a change meeting, get in touch with us at usq@nteu.org.au straight away. And if you’ve received a change proposal, you can share it with the NTEU as your representative—we’re here to help. Please send it to usq@nteu.org.au as soon as you can.

We understand these are challenging times, but by standing together, we can make our voices heard and create change.
